Bio
When did you start BJJ?
- I started my Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu journey when I four years old.
What about coaching do you like, or why do you coach ?
- I really love teaching kids technical Jiu-Jitsu moves in an easy-to-understand way. Being apart of each kid's journey and helping them learn to defend themselves is the most rewarding part of being a coach.
What is your favorite position to teach?
- My favorite position to teach is bottom guard or bottom half-guard because there are so many options and transitions at your disposal. The position can truly be as simple or technical as you need.
What three BJJ habits do you consider essential?
- Bringing a good attitude on the mat. I know this isn't always easy, but once you step foot on the mat you get a fresh start.
- Have patience, learning Jiu-Jitsu takes time. I've been training for fourteen years, and I still have a lot to learn.
- Remember, a black belt is a white belt who never stopped training.
- Bonus! ALWAYS CLIP YOUR TOENAILS for obvious reasons.
What has training BJJ taught you?
- Jiu-Jitsu has taught me that not everything is going to be easy to obtain in life, and that if you really want something you need to have patience. Keep at it, because some things are worth working towards.
- Jiu-Jitsu also taught me the quiet confidence that you only notice when walking through a dark parking lot. The quiet confidence that is immeasurable until you need, or think you need to defend yourself.
When you are not on the mat, how else do you like to spend your time?
- When I am not on the mat, I am training and showing goats through 4-H, taking walks through the forest, reading, or spending time with my show rabbit, Diesel, and pet rat, Kronk.
